Our Vision
The purpose of Missions at GFC is to raise up and support missionaries, locally, nationally, and internationally, to spread the gospel through the ministry of local churches.
What is Missions?
“The unique, deliberate gospel mission of the church to make disciples of all the nations. [It is] evangelism that takes the gospel across ethnic, linguistic, and geographic boundaries, that gathers churches, and teaches them to obey everything Jesus commanded.”
Missions: How the Local Church Goes Global, p. 35
Why Missions?
We believe this is important because it is a biblical mandate to engage and care about missions. The Great Commission applies to us individually, and to our local church.
Matthew 28:18-20 says:
"Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Who is a Missionary?
"Someone identified and sent out by local churches to make the gospel known and to gather, serve, and strengthen local churches across ethnic, linguistic, or geographic divides.”
Missions: How the Local Church Goes Global, p. 36
